Several hours north and west from Hong Kong in the Pearl River delta is a town of 700,000 people. Not a big town by China standards and it actually seemed small. If somebody were to have made me guess how many people live there right after I visited I probably would have said around 150,000. In and around Kaiping are these cool buildings called diaolou which were family and clan dwellings that were fortified.

We basically spent the weekend running around the small villages that surround Kaiping looking at all the Diaolou.
